Invitation to Exhibition

Katarzyna Zimna

Different shapes of voids

Ålgården Gallery, Ålgårdsvägen 33, Borås

12-27.10.2024

opening: 12.10.2024, from 12:00

The exhibition consists of a set of works created in Borås or inspired by this stay: graphics made with the relief printing techniques (linocut, monotype, collagraph/ artist’s own technique – matrices made of grains and salt) and works using hemp-based nonwovens and composites, which were the subject of research conducted within the framework of SustDesignTex Project, at the University of Borås, Swedish School of Textiles, in 2023. The narrative layer refers to the relationship between man and nature, and it was inspired by winter and early spring views of lakes Öresjö and Byttorpssjön, as well as visits to the Kypegården sauna, which became the impulse to create a series of graphic works Sauna, constituting a catalyst for reflection on the corporeal, feminine experience of change, transformation and the circularity of life.

Katarzyna Zimna is an artist and researcher living and working in Lodz, Poland. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Lodz in 2002.
